BlackBerry App World, only three years old now, passed the milestone of 2 billion downloads at the beginning of this year.
While 786 days were needed to reach the 1 billion mark, the second billion took 210 days and the third billion took only 176 days.
This shows a rather smart progress from the platform that is in doldrums, according to many.
The RIM app store can currently support 2.5 million downloads per day. It also has 28,000 vendors that are offering more than 90,000 apps that are up for sale.
However, the figures are relative given the fact that iOS has already passed 30 billion downloads and Android is about to reach this number. Windows Marketplace has not revealed data about download numbers but offers 100,000 products.
The BlackBerry blog revealed that the company is extremely proud of the amount of work that has gone into BlackBerry App World and also appreciated the developers.
