$3.9 million Series A funding for Scoopshot

Scoopshot is an on-demand photo service that photographers can use to make cash by responding to location-based tasks from brands and publishers via apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Scoopshot now has a $3.9 million Series A funding round and the fund will be used for global expansion, especially in the UK and the where the sales teams will be expanded.

The company was launched in 2010 and has partners like Nokia, Greenpeace and Gant while more than 350,000 downloads of the app have happened already.

Meanwhile, 60+ publishers have signed up to the platform and names include News Corp Australia and California Newspaper Publishers Association.

As part of the investment, Chris Barchak, Partner at Conor Venture Partners, will join the Scoopshot board as its new chairman. Mr. Barchak will be responsible for global expansion of the company.

One Scoopshot user bagged $20,000 on Android last year and has been enlisted by Coldplay and Oxfam.
