29% UK customers engage in loyalty programs

 The Buongiorno research looks positive in the sense that UK customers are perceived to be positive toward operator reward schemes like store and club points and frequent flyer programs.

In fact, the report states that as many as 29% of UK customers participate  in loyalty schemes thus indicating that there is plenty of business to be conducted in the mobile space.

Although the report points out that a majority of the customers don’t engage in any form of reward program, it does suggest that the reward schemes are highly effective where 76% of prepaid and 71% of contract customers indicate that high value gifts are indeed very attractive.

The report states that the major objective of the reward schemes should be stop customer churn that mostly happens due to customers looking for new handsets, believing that they pay too much to their existing operators and not believing that they get any additional loyalty benefits.
