Poynt, the location-based ad service attributes its sharp rise in popularity to more consumers adopting smartphones, which has introduced mobile ads to the public.

Poynt has highlighted reports from Gartner research that says that by 2015 worldwide mobile ad revenues will pass $20 billion, thus demonstrating the impact the mobile medium has on the market.

Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt, said that more consumers are adopting and using smartphones to obtain relevant information about their local surroundings and favorite brands. For brand advertisers and marketers the key is in providing valuable and relevant offers and messages to their consumers using the mobile device that considers the consumers’ preferences and location.

Consumers now expect to locate movie listings, retailers, local businesses and restaurants on their mobile device at different locations and times. Those brands marketers offering the most relevant and personalized offers are the ones that will see the best results.
