15% Britons will use m-commerce for Christmas shopping

Online shopping in UK is going to go up by 10% this month compared to last year as online retailers launch early holiday shopping schemes to woo buyers.

This estimate has been given by IBM. This is going to result in 15% consumers using the mobile channel to complete their Christmas shopping.

October 2011 saw 12% shoppers use mobile phones to view retail shopping sites. This is an increase of 3.7% compared to last year. Online sales also grew compared to last year and 3.1% of last year has reached 11% this year.

As per the report, iPhone remains the most favored shopping platform. 5.5% of all activity has been recorded on iPhone as compared to 2.4% on Android. iPad showed the highest conversion rate of 5.5% compared to 3.5% on mobile devices.

IBM had also recently published a similar report for the US market and has predicted that 15% ecommerce will be mobile driven.
