$10 million funding for Songkick

Songkick is a live music startup service that provides its users information on the upcoming concerts from various bands and artists.

Songkick debuted its iPhone app last year and the app was downloaded more than a hundred thousand times within the first 10 days of the launch. The overall service of Songkick receives more than 5 million users every month.

Songkick has now raised $10 million in funding and will use the fresh money for product innovation and development and also for new support hiring.

Sequoia Capital, a Silicon Valley based company, made its first foray into investment in the UK by supplying Songkick with the money needed.

Ian Hogarth, CEO of Songkick welcomed the investment from Sequoia Capital and said that it is a good sign that they have now started investing in the United Kingdom. He expressed hope that there will be more investments from Sequoia Capital in the UK.
